The Body of Christ is a body of believers that God through the Holy Spirit has chosen to be his Church in this earth. It is not an organization, denomination, nor an association, but rather a body of people joined together by the revelation of God and his Son. Because of this revelation, the members of the Body are determined to do the will of God in their lives. In short, as stated in Colossians 1:18, The body is the Church that is under the authority of the head which is Christ. No one of his or her own determination can join the Body of Christ.
Only God through his Spirit can add anyone to his church, which is his body. The Lord adds to the church daily such as should be saved (Acts 2:47). The Lord said himself in John 6:44 that no man could come unto him except the Father, which sent him, would draw him. The Body of Christ is a sovereign work of God, not a house built by man.
What Do We Believe About God ?
We believe there is one immortal, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient God, who sent his son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to save the world. As the Lord explained in John 4:23-24, God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
God has a Son and his name is Jesus. Jesus is not the eternal God, but he is the Messiah, “The promised one,” of the eternal God. He was the earthly manifestation of the eternal God. Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. Jesus Christ is not equal with God in existence, authority, or glory. However, he has no other equal, either in heaven or in earth, living or dead.
The Holy Ghost is the omnipresent Spirit of Christ that was given to the Church on the day of Pentecost following the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost is Christ in us, the hope of glory. We know that receiving the Spirit of God and his revelation is what makes you a member of the Body of Christ. You then, by virtue of having his Spirit, are begotten of God and are now a part of the Godhead bodily and through the Spirit can become a manifested Son of God.
What is His Plan About and Why?
The plan of God is revealed in the first book of the Bible, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” In God’s eternal plans and purpose for mankind, this determination is progressive and is still in continuance until this day. The scripture proves that God is a spirit. God is immortal, invisible (to the natural eye), and cannot be tempted with sin. Not one of these attributes of God are reflected in man. Man in his present condition is not the fullfillment of the purpose of God in his making of mankind.
The plan of God is that through the process of a life in Christ, and obedience to his spirit and word, we can become a manifested son of God. (Romans 8:16-19) The Apostle Paul said we await the manifestation of the sons of God. Peter said in his letter (1 Peter 1:4) that we can be partakers of the divine nature, and escape the corruption that is in the world. The Apostle John said that only those who are like him when he appears will see him, and that only those who have purified themselves even as he is pure will have this oppurtunity (1 John 3:1-3). Peter explains this in 2 Peter 1:10 as what we must do to ensure victory.
What We Must Do?
We at the Jacksonville Assembly believe it is our mission to not only secure ourselves, but to follow the divine commission, and to deliver the vision and light to a lost and dying dark world.
